Har Ghar Tiranga: National flag abounds in social media platforms

Guwahati: As India is preparing to celebrate Independence Day on 15 August 2022, the people of the country have started uploading through social media the national tricolour in their profiles.

It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the citizens of India to put the ‘tiranga’ as their display pictures on all their social media profiles.

He has asked the citizens to display the Indian national flag as the profile picture on all their social media accounts from 2 August 2022 to 15 August 2022. The campaign is known as ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made this announcement on his Mann ki Baat show on Sunday, 31 July 2022.

‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is set to be organised between 13 August 2022 to 15 August 2022. The campaign aims to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was going to turn into a mass movement.

Soon after the Prime Minister’s appeal, the people of the country started using the national flag in a big way thus creating an unprecedented atmosphere in a virtual world never witnessed before.

In response to the impassioned plea of the Prime Minister, the Assam Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs and MPs and different organizations, prominent citizens and the general public have begun using the national flag as their profile through social media.

In a press statement issued to the media from the party head office, President, BJP, Assam Pradesh, Bhabesh Kalita while lauding the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said it would further strengthen the bond of unity and amity among the people. The State President said as per the wishes of the Prime Minister, each and every segment of the society has started uploading the national tricolour in their profile and through this reminded the people that we are Indians first irrespective of caste, creed, language or religion.

Highlighting the significance of August 2, Kalita said on this very day Pingali Venkayya, who was instrumental in designing the national flag, was born. “In showering profound respect to him, Prime Minister took this initiative,” Kalita added.

In deference to the wishes of the Prime Minister, the State President appealed to all sections of the society to use the national flag in their profile through social media, besides hoisting the national tricolour in each and every household of the state from August 13 to 15 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
