A person named Mridupaban Pathak has been arrested from Barpeta for allegedly throwing the packet of pork into the mosque in Panjabari locality of Guwahati
Assam Police have cracked the case regarding a packet containing pork being hurled at a mosque in Guwahati and have arrested a person named Mridupaban Pathak from Barpeta.
The arrested person, a resident of Ward No 9 of Barpeta town, was arrested by a team of Guwahati City Police after a case was registered at Dispur Police Station in Guwahati [Case No. 568/25/U/S 196(2) of BNS].
The arrested person, who was brought to Guwahati for further questioning, has said he has been picked up as a suspect and denied throwing the packet of pork into the mosque.
A packet containing pork was thrown inside the mosque in Panjabari locality of Guwahati around 10 pm on Saturday (July 5) along with a note with a communally sensitive message attached to it.
The packet was discovered inside the mosque located at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Path in Panjabari’s Puran Basti.
CCTV visuals showed a person coming in a two-wheeler and throwing the packet containing pork along with the attached message into the mosque.
“Now go eat pork…,” the message read, while also mentioning the name of a female person along with a mobile telephone number.
The arrested person further said he also did not write the communally-sensitive message attached to the packet of pork which was thrown into the mosque but admitted to knowing the girl whose name was written on the hand-written note.
