MS Dhoni Returns As Chennai Super Kings Captain after Ravindra Jadeja relinquishes captaincy

Guwahati: In a turn of events, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ravindra Jadeja has decided to hand over the captaincy to MS Dhoni for the remainder of the IPL 2022 season.

Earlier, prior to the IPL 2022 season, MS Dhoni had shocked the Indian Premier League and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans by giving up captaincy and Jadeja was named the captain of the franchise for the IPL 2022.

Many fans and experts were sad to see Dhoni’s leadership rein come to an end.

However, the change in captaincy did not go in the team’s favour and CSK has so far won only two matches in all from eight played thus far and is placed 9th on the points table of the IPL 2022.

Dhoni has also accepted the captaincy for the greater good of the franchise.

Dhoni will take charge of CSK for their game against SunRisers Hyderabad on Sunday.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batter has captained CSK to four titles, including last season.

Jadeja, on the other hand, has not been at his best with bat or ball this season and several experts have said that captaincy was taking a toll on the 33-year-old.

So far, in eight matches, Jadeja has scored 112 runs at an average of 22.40 and at a strike-rate of 121.74. With the ball, he has taken just five wickets in eight matches at an economy of 8.19 RPO.
