Guwahati: Kamakhya Devalaya main door opens after end of Ambubachi Mela

Guwahati:  The main door of Kamakhya Devalaya in the Nilachal Hills of Guwahati was opened for devotees after the end of Ambubachi Mela on Sunday.

After the conduction of all the rituals, the temple door was opened to devotees and a mass of worshippers have flocked to the temple to seek Goddess Kamakhya’s blessings.

In order to receive the divine blessings of Goddess Kamakhya, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi and his wife visited to the temple.

On June 22, four-day festival the ‘Ambubachi Mela’ started amid certain restrictions put in place due to the fear of rising Covid-19 cases.

The Mela commemorates the goddess Kamakhya’s yearly menstrual cycle.

The Mother Shakti, Devi Kamakhya, the temple’s presiding goddess, is believed that through her menstrual cycle around this time each year. Additionally, it is believed that during the mela at the site during the monsoon rains, devotees can access Mother Earth’s creative and nurturing power through her “menses.”

Lakhs of devotees from around the country thronged the temple during mela to seek the blessings of the Goddess.
