Arunachal: 7 missing labourers from Assam rescued, 12 still missing

At least 7 Assam workers who have been found and rescued so far in Arunachal’s Kurung Kumey district.

The rescued workers have been identified as Abdul Nami, Majidul Ali, Monowar Hussain, Joinair Ali, Imanul Hussain, Khairul Islam and Hamidul Hussain.

As you can see the workers are being administered medical attention as they were rescued in a physically weak health condition owing to the fact that they had been starving for the past several days.

It may be reminded here that 7 of the total 19 missing workers from Assam in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district have been found and rescued.

After nearly 3 weeks of futile search operations, a total of 7 labourers have been rescued since late last evening.

Significantly, 4 missing workers were rescued late last evening and subsequently 3 more workers were rescued earlier this morning.

Meanwhile, Indian Air Force choppers have now been deployed to aid the rescue operations.

As per latest inputs, the IAF joined the search and rescue operations from 7am this morning from the Tezpur IAF station.

A series of Mi-17 choppers and other IAF helicopters having high manoeuvrability have been deployed.
Additionally, temporary helipads have also been made for the choppers to land easily in the rough and uneven terrain, along with refuelling provisions.

It may be mentioned here that it was on July 5 when a total of 19 workers, all hailing from Assam, fled from the road construction project site where they had been engaged.

Meanwhile, as many as 35 SDRF personnel along with locals are already engaged in the search and rescue operations.
