AASU stages protest against HSLC exam question paper leak

The All Assam Students Union (AASU) on Monday staged protests against the HSLC question paper leak of General Science across Assam.

On March 13, Sunday a day ahead of the exam scheduled there were multiple reports of the General Science paper for the High School Leaving Certificate Examinations paper being shared over social media and messaging platforms.

Following this development, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu ordered to cancel the exam of the subject and postponed it to a later date.

Taking to Twitter Pegu wrote, “General Science examination of the ongoing HSLC examination scheduled for 13/03/2023 has been cancelled by SEBA in view of media reports of leakage of the question paper. The next date will be announced in due course.”

The tweet came on at about midnight of Monday.

Several organisations took to protesting against the education department of the state of Assam due to the reported leaking of the question papers and the subsequent cancelling of the General Science paper for the HSLC Examinations.

Protests against this incident started in the early morning of Monday across the state of Assam.

Effigies of the education minister Ranoj Pegu and the Board of Secondary Education of Assam were burnt in several parts of the state along with sloganeering.

The opposition Indian National Congress led the protests in the Assam legislative assembly.

The morning session of Monday during the ongoing budget session had to be adjourned because of the protests.
