Massive soil erosion poses serious threat in Dibrugarh

Massive erosion has yet again gripped eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh, causing fear and panic among the residents. While the administration is making all-out efforts to control erosion, the heavy flow of the Brahmaputra has become a major cause of concern.

The Dibrugarh district administration has been working to stop the marauding erosion from Brahmaputra river.

Following the incident, Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan visited the affected areas last night and informed the resident that all steps were taken to ensure that the situation doesnt get more worsen any further.

He also informed that SDRF and NDRF personnel have also been pressed into action to control the situation.

“The protection Dyke of the town has been breached due to the constant erosion. If the erosion continues for more days then it will pose a threat for the people of Dibrugarh town,” said a resident.

Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu also visited the affected area on Sunday morning and informed that the administration is working round the clock to solve the problem.
