Guwahati: Class 10 student murdered by fast-food kiosk owner over loan repayment, accused arrested

In a shocking incident a 15-year-old Class X student of a premier school in Guwahati was murdered, allegedly by the owner of a roadside fast food kiosk, with police recovering the body of the deceased from a densely forested area in Bonda area of the city.

The deceased, identified as Nitish Kumar, was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday morning by the accused identified as Abhishek Baruah who took him to Bonda on the outskirts of Guwahati and later murdered him.

Abhishek, who was later arrested by the police in connection with the case, was known to the deceased and had reportedly lent money to another youth named Hardik Chetia. Hardik was a neighbour of Nitish and had borrowed money from Abhishek for which Nitish acted as the guarantor.

Nitish’s father said after his son went missing on Wednesday morning, he launched a search. It was around 2:30 in the afternoon that he received a call from an unknown number in which the called claimed that he had abducted Nitish and demanded Rs 7 lakh as ransom.

Abhishek, it is now being believed, demanded the money for the release of Nitish.

Further Nitish’s father claimed that Abhishek came to their residence and demanded that he repay the loan amount of Rs 90,000 which he had paid to Hardik on his son’s request.

Guwahati Police are now looking in to other possible angles and are interrogating Abhishek who was arrested last night.

Police teams are also in the lookout for Hardik who is presently absconding.
