Tezpur, Assam: Married woman, first blackmailed over bathing videos, later abducted and sexually assaulted
GUWAHATI, Aug 7: First he secretly took videos of a married woman while she was bathing, then he started blackmailing her and later abducted and sexually assaulted her and even forcing her to become his second wife.
A chilling string of accusations by a woman and her husband against a man named Ariful Haq of Thelamara, Tezpur, that has now shocked and numbed people.
The complainant woman, hailing from Bihaguri, alleged that Ariful, a motor mechanic by profession, who used to visit their house to repair a tempo the woman’s husband owned, somehow managed to take bathing videos of her.
He, the victim alleged, then started blackmailing her and her husband to meet his demands, mainly in the form of money which he demanded from them, and threatened to make the videos and pictures of her public if his demands were not met.
The woman and her husband reportedly paid money to the accused on many occasions.
Ariful, the woman alleged, however, kept blackmailing her. She alleged that he abducted her from a place called Ghulai while she was coming to her workplace from her mother’s residence on July 3 this year.

He, she further alleged, took her to a secluded place where he sexually assaulted her.
The woman also claimed Ariful took her to several places — including his home in Thelamara — in the course of the next few days and even forced her to marry him and live with him as his second wife.
“He also physically assaulted me for not accepting to his demands and threatened to make the objectionable pictures and videos of me, which he had secretly taken, public,” she further alleged.
Ironically, despite many attempts to get a police complaint registered, the couple was dissuaded from doing so by none other then OC of Thelamara police station, the woman further alleged.
It was only after she met higher authorities of Sonitpur Police that Thelamara Police registered an FIR based on her complaint.
No action, however, has still been taken against the accused.
