“One Nation, One Election, A Gift To The Nation From PM Modi”, Says Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking about ‘One Nation, One Election’ and said “One Nation, One Election is a gift to the nation from the Prime Minister”. 

While speaking to media persons on Friday, CM Sarma said that PM Modi’s decision of appointing a commission to look after ‘One Nation One Election’ is a landmark decision and that he is very glad that a person of the stature like Ram Nath Kovind Nath has accepted the offer.

‘Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a very landmark decision by appointing a commission to look after to look after the issue of one nation one election. I am glad and I am very happy that a person of the stature like Shri Ramnath Kovind has taken the decision or he has accepted the offer of the prime minister,” he added. 

The Assam Chief Minister further said that multiple elections in India involve a lot of money as often India is in an election mood.

”Now this commission will definitely look after the issue of one nation one election because multiple elections in India involve lots of money and because every time India is in an election mood development suffers a lot. Every time there is an election either Panchayat either Urban, Assembly or MP, so, India’s development is suffering,” he added.

He further said that PM Modi has correctly realized and is advocating that one national and one election will take India to a different level which will help in the reduction of expenditure and development throughout the five years. 

”Our country will become the ‘Vishwaguru’ if we proceed in this way. I think this commission is a gift to our nation by PM Modi and I hope according to the recommendation of this commission, parliament and PM Modi will take appropriate decision,” Sarma said. 

Sarma further wished PM Modi for taking a bold step towards one nation one election on behalf of the people of Assam. 

”And I also like to congratulate and offer my best wishes to Ram Nath Kovind ji for his new assignment,” he added.
