Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd CMD Riniki Bhuyan Sarma files defamation suit against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi
Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, Chairperson and Managing Director of Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd., has filed a defamation suit against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for leveling false and fabricated allegations that her media firm Pride East received an agro subsidy of Rs 10 crore from the central government.
The defamation suit was filed at the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division), Kamrup Metro in Guwahati and the case will be moved on September 26, 2023 (Tuesday).
Riniki Bhuyan had earlier stated through a statement that she would take Gaurav Gogoi, Lok Sabha MP from Kaliabar, to court for his “slanderous campaign” against her and Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd..
“To protect the reputation of our hardworking employees from this slanderous campaign of Sri Gaurav Gogoi – Hon’ble Member of Parliament, I am thereby constrained to file a case of defamation with Rs 10 cr in damages against him in the court of law,” Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, the CMD of Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd said in a statement.
“This is nothing but an attack to malign and defame a 17-year-old Assamese enterprise, which has adhered to every aspect of the law, headed by a woman entrepreneur,” the statement read.

Bhuyan further asserted that her company is eligible to participate in government-supported programs and incentive schemes, like any other qualifying enterprise.
She said that Pride East Entertainment Pvt Ltd has neither claimed nor received a single penny of government subsidy in the present case, pertaining to the PM Kisan Sampada Scheme, despite meeting all eligibility criteria.
