Leopard creating reign of terror caged in Jorhat’s Charigaon
GUWAHATI, Nov 26: A leopard, which was creating a reign of terror near Charigaon in Jorhat’s northeastern outskirts, was successfully caged by forest department officials early Tuesday morning.
The leopard had reportedly been attacking livestock of the area and people were living in fear following many incidents of the big cat killing animals.
The forest department had set up a cage with a live bait for two nights after receiving complaints from villagers.
The leopard finally fell into the trap early Tuesday morning with villagers heaving a sigh of relief after the big cat was caged.
The leopard, forest department officials told News Live, will be released into the wild after veterinarians carry out mandatory health checks.
