JCO injured in ambush on Assam Rifles in Arunachal

GUWAHATI, Aug 9: A joint group of militants belonging to United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) and the Yung Aung faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang)-(NSCN-KYA) launched an ambush on a patrol party of the Assam Rifles in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh near the Indo-Myanmar border.

A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was injured in the attack that ensued around 3 am today resulting in a 30-minute exchange of fire, reports said.

“A group of insurgents attempted infiltration in garb of bad weather and poor visibility at Pangsau Pass. Following swift and immediate retaliation by Assam Rifles troops, infiltration bid has been foiled.  One JCO suffered minor injury in hand in the operation which had briefly ensued. Enhanced vigil in area continues,” a released issued to the media by the Indian Army stated.
